The Premortem

At Upside Partnership, we encourage founders to put together a premortem. We introduce the idea during the onboarding session we hold for all new investments.
A postmortem is the examination of something that has already occurred. A premortem, on the other hand, looks at something that may hypothetically occur. So, instead of asking “why did this happen?” we ask, “what could happen and what are the potential causes?” It’s another way we can encourage founders and their teams to adopt long-term planning and visioning.
